Tottenham 1-0 Leicester City

Leicester City started off the match well as Emile Heskey had a decent chance early on and Taggart also missed a good opportunity as Ian walker made a decent save. Tottenham improved as the half progressed and David Genola pin pointed a fine cross to Stefan Freund who shot well, however his shot was blocked. Tottenham were awarded a free kick with five minutes of the first half remaining, Darren Anderton took it and Stefan Iverson headed down the ball which was well saved by Kasey Keller. Leicester came out the better side in the early stages of the second half as Robbie Savage came close early on in the second half. Tottenham stepped up a gear towards the end of the match as Iverson and Sinton both had good chances to win it, however it was Alan Nielsen who scored from a rebound of a Stefan Iverson shot. Tottenham were the winners of the 1999 league cup final.

Leicester City 1-0 Middlesbrough

Leicester City, under the guidance of Martin O’Neill met Middlesbrough in the 1997 league cup final. The first final match ended 1-1 so the tie went to a replay which Leicester came out 1-0 winners. It was Steve Claridge who scored the crucial winning oal in this classic football encounter as Leicester won the match. Steve Walsh was in inspiring form for the foxes in what was Leicester’s first League cup final since 1964.

Leicester was in the final once again in the following season, in what was their third final in four years. They were up against second division club, Tranmere Rovers, a match which they won 2-1 to win them the league cup. It was the third time in three years that Leicester City had reached the league cup final and the victory was O’Neill’s last trophy won at Leicester City

Manchester City 1-0 Leicester City
FA Cup Final – 1969

City had won the league title the previous year and was in search of winning the elusive FA Cup. In a side that featured the likes of Francis Lee and Colin Bell much was expected of City. The match commenced at a frantic pace as both sides had decent opportunities. The first and only goal of the encounter came by Neil Young, smashing in a cross by Summerbee. Manchester city continued dominate and create chances however the score line remained 1-0 and Manchester city had just won their forth FA Cup crown.

Leicester City 0- 2 Tottenham Hotspur
FA Cup final: 1961

Tottenham met Leicester City in the 1961 FA Cup final and set out to seal their historic season with an outstanding display. Spurs were in search of ‘the double’ after winning the league a few weeks before. Leicester put up a gallant fight and looked the better team early in the tie. However the pressure on Spurs eased when City’s full back Len Chalmers was carried off injured. Against ten men, the north London side won 2-0. The spotlight on the FA Cup remained on Spurs the following season as they won it for the second successive season thanks to goals by Smith, Greaves and Blanchflower.
