Leicester City FC were formed in the year 1884 and gained election in to the second division in 1894. They finished the 1907 – 1908 season off in second place which in turn earned the club promotion in to the first division. The 1909 – 1910 season saw the club reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup. Between the years 1926 and 1935, they were a first division football outfit before suffering relegation. They reached the final of the 1949 FA Cup as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Wolves. They finished off the 1927 – 1928 season in third position and the 1928 – 1929 campaign in second place. They reached the semi finals of the 1934 FA Cup.
Various managers took charge at the club before the year 1960, including, Tom Bromilow, Tom Mather, Johnny Duncan, Norman Bullock, David Halliday and Matt Giles, the latter being installed as the new manager in the year 1959.
Adam Black played for Leicester City between 1920 and 1935, making a staggering 528 appearances for the club in his fifteen year period. Arthur Rowley was banging in the goals for Leicester City between 1923 and 1935 as he scored an incredible 259 league goals.
