Steve Bloomfield was in his last two years in charge by the time of the 1975 – 1976 season starting, and he saw the Foxes finish off in seventh and eleventh positions respectively in the top flight. They suffered embarrassment in the 1976 – 1977 league cup campaign as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Wrexham to crash out of the cup competition.
Frank McLintock took charge at Leicester City during the 1977 – 1978 season and the foxes plummeted down the league, being condemned to a rock bottom 22nd position finish at the end of the season.
Jock Wallace took charge at the club in 1978 and helped guide the foxes back into o the first division at the end of the 1979 – 1980 season as they finished it of being crowned as second division champions at the end of the campaign. They suffered embarrassment in the third round of the FA Cup in 1980 as they lost against Harlow Town. They crashed out of the league cup in the first round, suffering defeat against Rotherham United.
