The 1990 – 1991 seasons proved to be a debacle for Leicester City FC as they managed to finish off the campaign in a very disappointing 22nd position in the second division, narrowly escaping relegation in to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history.
The 1991 – 1992 season saw a vast improvement in their fortunes as they reached the play offs via finishing off the campaign in fourth place. Steve Walsh and Tommy Wright were in outstanding form for the foxes as they enjoyed a great season. They suffered elimination in the fourth round of the FA cup as they were knocked out against Bristol City.
The Foxes continued their impressive league form during the 1992 – 1993 season and once again reached a play off position of sixth place. They crashed out of the FA cup in the third round as they suffered defeat on penalties against Barnsley in the competition.
The 1993 – 1994 campaign was s great one for the foxes as they reached the play offs for the third consecutive year and gained promotion in to the top flight at the end of the season. They crashed out of the cup competitions in the third round, losing in the league cup against Manchester City.
